New record attendance at the BMX London Youth Games
The year’s instalment of the annual London Youth Games BMX competition was held on June 8th at Merton Saints BMX club.
BMX has been part of the annual London Youth Games calendar (the largest junior sports competition in Europe) since Access Sport successfully campaigned for its inclusion in 2012. 17 boroughs entered in that first year, rising to 20 boroughs in 2013 and at this year’s event a record total of 23 different London boroughs and 180 riders competed for the trophy.
It was a glorious sunny day in Merton where every borough from Access Sport’s BMX Legacy Programme submitted teams to compete. Riders trained at their local BMX club are selected to represent their borough in the Junior, Youth or Senior category.
