Setting off


  • Stand up out of the saddle keeping one foot on the pedal and one foot on the ground.
  • The foot on the pedal should be all the way down
  • Keep the pedal on the ball of your foot (the widest part) and always pointing forward
  • Hold your handle bars with your knuckles pointing down towards the ground
  • Look straight ahead
  • Using the foot on the ground push yourself forward – as if riding a scooter
  • Lift your other foot off the ground and position on the pedal when comfortable with the speed and your balance
  • Make sure both pedals are positioned on the ball of your feet near your toes
